Work will begin on the transformation of Old Street roundabout on Monday 19 November. These changes will vastly improve safety for all users of the roundabout.
There will be improved facilities for cyclists and pedestrians travelling through the junction with segregated cycle routes and safe signal controlled pedestrian crossings moved to surface level. The north-west arm of the existing roundabout will be closed to all traffic, creating a new public space with the remaining road returned to two-way operation. We will remove the central island of the roundabout, creating a new entrance for Old Street Station, and reducing the number of subways.
Work will be broken down into three phases with the first phase focused on enabling and site investigation works.
The attached letter will be delivered to residents and businesses in a 250m radius of the roundabout and the work will be publicised via all our normal channels
